Oh yeah

Almost forgot. It's "Talk Like a Pirate" Day today.

So, arrggghhh, ye matey.

There. Done my part.
99

Today is the 99-month anniversary for me and my lovely wife. This monthly celebration, like the return of a full moon, comes on a very special event. Monday morning, I'm starting a new job. Actually, it's a fantastic new job that seems as if it's been carved out of dreams and high-grade fudge. I'm going to be a writer with Microsoft Game Studios, handling the web content for three high-profile licenses.

Also, it means I will finally be paid to sit on my rump and play games all day.

No, seriously.

The pay is better, the commute is better, the potential for a better career is...well...better. A lot of drain I have been feeling with my soon-to-be previous job and a freelancer job I once had is all gone. I'll have nights free to write again. But in the end, I'll just be doing something fresh, different, yet something I'll be excited to do. It goes without saying that we shouldn't be defined by our jobs, but let's face it: you have to spend 8 hours a day at some location and do a job in order to earn a paycheck. If you can have a place that makes you excited and stimulates your creativity, and if it's something you really want to do, then life gets a little brighter.

So, my wife and I incredibly happy on this special monthly occasion. Looking back, I can't begin to chart how much my wife has been there for me as I trudged through a lot of setbacks at my soon-to-be-former office. She's been kind and loving, offering a clear head when I got overwhelmed, and sweetness when I got passed over for something better.

I love you, my darling. I love you so much. Happy 99 months.
